SCAN recently added several new groups to its Family Support Program - a group for parents court ordered to attend groups, a group for parents at the Family Drug Court, and a children's group in the Richmond Southside area. A group for Spanish speaking families will begin in early 2003.
The Home Builders Association of Richmond (HBAR) sponsored its annual Christmas Tree Lot to benefit SCAN (Stop Child Abuse Now). HBAR has raised up to $15,000 for SCAN through the lot. Special thanks to Amy LeCato, Fred Meyer, and all the other HBAR and SCAN volunteers who have helped make the Christmas Tree lot a success.

SCAN supporters, led by Ray Knapp, recently raised $20,000 for SCAN through their 12th Annual Christmas Party on December 7, 2002. Special thanks to all the hosts and hostesses who sponsored the fundraiser and to all the SCAN volunteers who helped make it a success. SCAN's next events will be a Moulin Rogue costume party and the Fourth Annual Bowl A Thon, both planned for February.
Leadership Metro Richmond (LMR) has recently selected SCAN for a community services project. LMR links community leaders with projects that utilize their professional skills to benefit the Greater Richmond area. This year's SCAN / LMR project will be to develop a public education campaign for National Child Abuse Prevention Month in April. The theme will be "You are the key to child abuse prevention."
